About Us
At It Takes a Village NOLA, we are rooted in the belief that no parent should have to do it alone. Our vision was inspired by a powerful cultural practice from an ethnic community in New York: when one of their own immigrates to the United States, every member of their community contributes just one dollar. With over a million people, that single act results in over $1 million of support for a new family—before they even arrive.
That’s unity. That’s generational power. And we believe New Orleans deserves that same level of community commitment.
It Takes a Village NOLA was born from the idea that we can activate the same model right here in our city. We serve families with children from birth to age two by providing:
Mental health support
Educational resources
Essential baby supplies
Encouragement and empowerment
And most importantly, a village.
This is not just about charity—it’s about community. We aim to ensure that every parent in New Orleans feels seen, supported, and surrounded. Because here, no parent walks alone.
Our mission is to empower families in need by providing them with essential supplies and support while fostering a sense of community.
“We envision a society in New Orleans and throughout the country where no child goes without the necessary resources for their well being and development.”
— Terri, Treasurer of It Takes A Village NOLA
